| The housing lottery gives current full time students the opportunity to choose University housing for the upcoming academic year. The lottery is based on seniority and is considered the fairest system for allowing students to choose roommates and rooms. For example, priority is given to apartment groups who have five seniors, followed by the groups of four seniors and one junior, three seniors and two juniors and so on. The same format is used for traditional rooms and underclassmen.
What's new this year? The housing committee has introduced a few changes designed to make the lottery more efficient and fair for students. While the main structure for the lottery remains the same, the changes are essential for this year's system. Please be sure to read this packet fully and carefully for how these changes pertain to you.
Current students planning to reside on campus next year signed the Housing Contract prior to the lottery in order to participate.
Once a student selects a room (or is assigned a room), room changes will not be considered until the first two weeks of the following semester.
Floor plans and Special Housing Requests will be available through Mount St. Mary's web page in the Residence Life section: /studentsandstaff/residencelife/
All information regarding Housing Selection will at least be sent via e-mail as well as being posted, mailed etc.
The occupancy of some rooms on campus will be changed to greater reflect our changing community and its needs. These rooms will receive updated furniture in accordance with their changing needs.
A, Horning, and Keelty Towers (center columns) are designated as a smoke free environment, and students are not permitted to smoke in these apartments.
All housing forms are on the right.
