Mount St. Mary’s University offers a wide range of residential experiences for students. The University believes that living on-campus is an important part of the liberal arts experience because it provides students with interaction with other students from diverse backgrounds. Living in close proximity with others, the constant exchange of ideas, endless possibilities for friendships and the development of community awareness and all that it entails is part of what makes the residential environment one of the most educational and fun facets of campus life.
A great deal of learning occurs outside of the classroom. Informal interactions among roommates and hall residents are opportunities for students to learn more about themselves and others. Programs sponsored in the residence halls emphasize the social, physical, cultural, emotional and spiritual development of residents. Special interest housing can provide important ties between the classroom and the out-of-classroom experience. All of these learning opportunities support the University’s goal of creating a living-learning community that enhances student growth and development through individual and group experiences.
