Spring 2006 REGISTRATION: Monday March 20th, 2006 at 5:00pm
No registrations taken prior to March 20th sign up.
ORIENTATION: Thursday March 23rd, 2006 at 5:00pm
Orientation is for new participants.
Both held in the Horning Hospitality Room 2nd floor in the ARCC and signs will be posted.

The Knott Athletic Recreation Convocation Complex (ARCC) has been in operation since 1986. Swimming lessons have been offered to the Mount Community and the public since the Spring of 1989.
We now offer a wide range of aquatic activities--something for every age!

Lesson Schedule
Private & Semi-private Lessons - Youth & Adult
Preschool Swimming
Infants & Toddlers (6 months-3 years) Swim class for the parent and child. This class will assist child to move comfortably through the water and prepares them for preschool classes.
Emphasis on aquatic adjustment, experiencing independent propulsive swimming movements using floatation and parent/child activities. The adult does not have to be a swimmer, but must be with the child in the water. Children should wear plastic pants or a swim diaper.
Preschool One & Two (ages 3-5)
Emphasis on practicing combined skills for basic swimming strokes prior to entering Advanced Preschool class.
Advanced Preschool One & Two (ages 3-5)
Concentration on improving combined skills for basic swimming strokes in preparation for beginning Red Cross Learn to Swim classes.
Preschool One: Beginner, little to no swimming experience.
Preschool Two: Comfortable in the water, blows bubbles, can swim with a bubble and kick independently with a kickboard, and jumps in with assistance.
Advanced Preschool One: Comfortable blowing bubbles and putting face in, can do the following independently with the use of a bubble: swim the width of the pool on front and back, floatsfront and back, and jump in independently. Is beginning to swim without a bubble.
Advanced Preschool Two: Can complete all of the Advanced Preschool One skills without a bubble. Is ready to begin over-arm recovery in front crawl.
Youth Swimming
Learn to Swim Levels I-VI (ages 6 & over)
Includes all the basic swimming strokes, introduction to personal safety and rescue skills, endurance and physical fitness swimming. Red Cross certification upon successful completion.
All students in Levels 3-6 need goggles. Any student whose hair reaches the eyes must wear it pulled back or wear a swimming cap. Caps and goggles are sold at Issue & Control. The American Red Cross Levels of Progressive Swimming
Level One: Beginner, little to no swim experience. Child must be comfortable in the water and should be willing to put their face in the water.
Level Two: Jump into pool, float on stomach and back unsupported. Swim 15 feet on stomach and back without support and tread water.
Level Three: Head first entry. Retrieve objects from the pool bottom. Front and back glide. Breath to the side in front crawl.
Level Four: Diving, underwater swimming, breaststroke, butterfly, elementary back stroke.
Level Five: Shallow diving, surface diving, flip turns from back and stomach. Stroke refinement.
