What is the MOUNTcard?
The MOUNTcard is a multi-functional Campus ID card. It is the official photo ID for The Mount. All students (undergraduate or graduate) are issued a card. As such, it serves the following functions:

  • Access to meal plans
  • Access to pre-paid accounts
  • Library card
  • Usage of the Knott Recreation Complex
  • Entrance to Athletic Events
  • Others

What are pre-paid accounts?
Mount Money and Dining Dollars are declining balance pre-paid service accounts accessed with your MOUNTcard. These accounts provide students with the convenience to make purchases without having to carry cash on campus.

Dining Dollar Account allows you to make purchases in Patriot Hall, C3, and the Mount Café tax-free. You may also make purchases at select vending machines on campus.

Mount Money Account gives the student the flexibility to purchase just about anything you need on campus, from textbooks to registering a vehicle. (Mount Money used in the Dining Area is subject to the 5% sales tax)

Both accounts carry over from one semester to the next and from year to year. You can get a full refund when you graduate or withdraw from the College.

Flex Dollars are deposited on your card based on the meal plan you purchased. The monies can be spent in any of the dining areas tax free, select vending machines and food purchases in the bookstore. These funds do not carry over for the next semester and any funds remaining will be forfeited at the end of the semester.

Why use the pre-paid accounts?
They’re FREE

They’re FAST – they run on the local network and take just the swipe of a card to you get through the line faster than cash or check. No more looking for change for that soda, just swipe the card. At various locations you can see your remaining balance or anytime via the internet..

They’re SAFE – if you accidentally lose your ID, your money is secure the minute you report your card lost, and available when you receive a replacement card. Also, since the pre-paid accounts run on a real-time system you cannot overdraw your account.

How do I set up a pre-paid account?
Just fill out the form and enclose your check or credit card information and send it to the MOUNTcard Office. Please indicate if you want to open a Dining Dollar account (minimum initial deposit of $ 25.00 required), a Mount Money account or both. As soon as we receive the payment we will add the funds to your MOUNTcard and you are ready to go. Or, you can come to the MOUNTcard Office in the McGowan Center.
