Regular Freshman Admission
Our application review process normally begins in the late fall. All applicants applying before March 1 will be notified of our admission decision on a rolling basis.
Students who possess strong academic credentials, and who may be considered for Academic Scholarships and the Honors Program, will be notified early of their admission decisions. This will facilitate their timely consideration for merit-based academic scholarships.
If accepted, and you plan to enroll at Mount St. Marys University, you should send your $500 enrollment deposit by May 1, or sooner if possible. Apply Online
Early Action Freshman Admission
The Early Action application option is a service to those freshman applicants with above average academic credential and a strong interest in the Mount. The application deadline for Early Action is December 1; notification of our admission decision is made by December 15. Some Early Action candidates may have admission decisions deferred to Regular Admission notification, so that their credentials can be updated with senior grades.
Students admitted under Early Action consideration should send their $500 enrollment deposit by May 1 or sooner if possible. This deposit is refundable upon request before May 1. Further, all financial aid and merit award considerations are the same whether admission is by Regular or Early Action.
Teacher or Counselor Recommendation
Please ask your counselor or a teacher who can knowledgeably describe your academic record to send a recommendation to the Office of Admissions.
Admissions Test
Have your SAT or ACT results sent to Mount St. Marys as part of your application. We will accept test results either sent directly from the testing agency or recorded on your official secondary school transcript. The test(s) should be taken no later than December of your senior year. Your highest scores, regardless of test date, will be considered. Advanced Placement (A.P.) examination results will be considered for possible credit (scores of 3 or higher).

Please submit, in essay form, any additional information, which may assist the Admissions Committee in its review of your application.
Application Fee
A $35 application fee must accompany your application. Your check or money order should be made payable to Mount St. Marys University.
January Admission
Both Freshman and Transfer Applicants seeking admission in the Spring semester, which begins in mid-January, should submit all their application material by December 1. Admission notification is on a rolling basis, usually within two weeks of the completion of the application. Financial aid application forms (see above) should be submitted to the processing agencies in September or early October if possible.

Transfer Admissions
A prospective transfer student at Mount St. Marys University is defined as a student who has graduated from high school and has taken courses for credit at another college or university. Candidates for transfer admission should apply by June 1 for fall semester and by December 1 for spring semester admission.
Transfer students must submit an admission application, $35 applicationfee, official transcripts and a recommendation from an academic adviser or college faculty member. Official transcripts should be submitted from the candidates high school and from each college attended. Additionally, a personal statement indicating your experiences since high school graduation, may help in the review of your application for transfer admission.
Prospective transfer students are encouraged to meet with a Transfer Counselor in the Admissions Office. The Transfer Counselor will be able to offer you a tentative transfer credit evaluation, indicating how your previous college credit will be applied to a major at Mount St. Marys.Additionally, a meeting with a Transfer Counselor will allow the prospective transfer student to carefully plan course selection prior to enrolling at the Mount. Appointments with a Transfer Counselor can be made by calling the Mount Admissions Office (800) 448-4347.
International Student Admissions
International students are encouraged to apply for admission to Mount St Marys University. Students from other cultures are important members of the Mount community.
To apply for admission an international student must submit an application for admission, $35 application fee, official, certified transcripts of secondary school records (including a certified English translation) and marks achieved on examinations. Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL) are also required for students whos primary language an/or language of education is not English. Generally a minimum score of 550 on the paper test and 215 on the computer-based test is required for admission. Additionally, a statement of financial support indicating financial resources available for attending Mount St. Marys University is required prior to review of an international students application for admission.
Financial Aid
Mount Saint Marys attempts to meet the demonstrated financial need of admitted students. Need is defined as the difference between the cost of a Mount education and expected family contribution. The expected family contribution is identified by analysis of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (the FAFSA) and the Mount St. Mary's University Financial Aid application. If you plan to apply for financial assistance, you should:
1. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1 as possible but no later than March 15. (available in your guidance office, or you may file online through the Mount St. Mary's University website)
2. Upon submitting the FAFSA, complete the Mount St. Mary's financial aid application which is available for download and printing or for completion online at the Mount St. Mary's financial aid web site.
Our Admissions Committee makes its decisions without reference to any application for aid. In addition to need-based financial aid, Mount Saint Marys awards substantial merit-based academic scholarships.

Campus Visit and Interview
You are strongly encouraged to visit our campus. A personal interview, a tour of the campus, sitting in on classes and talking with students and faculty, can all be very helpful to you in your college choice.

Our Admissions Office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and during the academic year on selected Saturdays. You should make arrangements at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

** Multiple meal plans are available to resident and non-resident students. All resident students, except those residing in the apartment complex, are required to take at least a 5 (all-you-can-eat) dinners and flex plan; these meals will be served in the school’s new dining hall, Patriot Hall. Meal plans may not be changed after one week of the start of the semester. For additional information concerning meal plans, please contact the MOUNTcard office.
*** Resident students are reminded that they contract for their rooms for the entire school year and normally will not be permitted to withdraw during the year in order to room off-campus.
**** All full-time students are eligible for participation in the blanket accident and health policy which provides 12-month coverage on and off campus.
