The department of business emphasizes the development of personal, professional and organizational qualities and skills required to meet the challenges of today's and tomorrow's complex global business world with its focus on ideas, communication, critical analysis, problem solving and decision making.
The Business curriculum allows students to add to lower-level courses or learning acquired elsewhere. It affords the students opportunities to broaden their understanding of the environment of modern business and of the principles and processes for effective management of organizations. Required courses span the areas of management, marketing, business law, information systems, analytical techniques of decision making, and financial management.

AC 203 Managerial Cost Accounting (3 credits)
This course is concerned with the use of cost data for management decision purposes. Prerequisites: AC 101-- 102
BUS 313 Principles of Marketing (3 credits)
An examination of the problems faced by the marketing manager when required to execute decisions concerning markets, products, prices, channels, promotion, and basic marketing strategy. Findings from the behavioral sciences will be applied to practical marketing problems. Prerequisites: EC 101- 102
BUS 340 Quantitative Methods in Business and Economics (3 credits)
An introduction to some of the quantitative methods used in modern manage-ment science and economics. Topics include probability concepts, forecasting, decision theory, linear programming, queuing theory, network models, and Markov analysis. Prerequisite: Elementary Statistics; Introduction to Computers is recommended.
EC 350 Managerial Economics (3 credits)
This course is designed primarily for business administration students who have done introductory-level work in economics. The objective is to enhance stu-dents' understanding of the application of economic analysis to managerial decisions. Prerequisite: EC 101-102
BUS 360 Corporate Finance (3 credits)
This course serves as an introduction to corporate finance. Some of the major topics to be covered are time value of money, financial statement analysis, risk and expected return, security valuation, cost of capital, and capital budgeting. Prerequisite: EC 101 and 102 or permission of instructor.
BUS 404 Business Policy (3 credits)
A study and analysis of the strategic policy formulation process in organizations. The course develops skills in integrating the various management functional areas using a case study approach. Prerequisites: BUS 210, 301, 307, 313, 320, 360. (As needed)
BUS 409 Senior Seminar (3 credits)
This course begins with a comprehensive exercise in self-assessment and career/life planning. It then concentrates on the development of critical mana-gerial skills (e.g. time management, listening, negotiation, creative problem solving, and business communications). It seeks to improve conceptual skills through a series of case studies and a major group project. A detailed review of current organizational literature is included. Prerequisite: Principles of Management.
