Courses of Instruction

The course of study requires 14 Criminal Justice courses (42 credit hours). Of these 10 are required, and four are electives. We assume that many students entering the program will have completed most of the 100- and 200-level courses.

In addition 49 credits must be taken in Liberal Arts Core courses. These include-- Mount Seminar, Theology (2), Philosophy (3), and Nonwestern culture, available at Mount St. Mary's. College Writing, Arts/Humanities (2), History (2), Social Science (2), Natural Science w/lab, and Statistics can be taken at the Mount or other community college or four-year accredited schools.

Four 100-and 200-level CJ courses (12 credits) are required:

  • CJ 100 Introduction to Criminal Justice
  • CJ 105 Law Enforcement
  • CJ 200 Criminal Law
  • CJ 205 Criminal Evidence and Procedure

Six 300-and 400-level required CJ courses (18 credits) must be taken at Mount St. Mary's.

Four CJ Electives (12 credits) must be completed from this group. All 300-and 400-level electives must be taken at the Mount. At least two of the electives must be 300- or 400-level.
